Customs and Qatar Steel sign a MoU to establish controls and procedures to regulate and restrict the exports of iron scrap

The General Authority of Customs and Qatar Steel Company (Qatar Steel) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at collaborating to establish controls and procedures for regulating and restricting the export of iron scrap which will contribute significantly to reduce illegal shipments out of the State of Qatar, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Ahmed Yusuf Al-Sahl, Assistant President of the Authority for Customs Ports Affairs, and Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Steel, at the Authority’s headquarters in the presence of several department directors and officials from both sides.
This MoU reflects the commitment of both parties to enhance integration between government entities and the industrial sector to safeguard national resources, support national industry and maintain supply chain sustainability. Furthermore, this partnership contributes to regulating the trade of iron scrap and ensuring compliance with transparency requirements and responsibility in commercial transactions.
Both parties also emphasized that this cooperation would help to improve the efficiency of relevant control procedures and enhance compliance with customs laws and regulations, thereby supporting the competitiveness of the industrial sector and the country’s economic goals.
