A two-day Team Building and Strategy Workshop was organized at Salwa Beach resort and attended by all managers.

The two day event kicked off after a welcome address by the MD&CEO followed by team activities. The task required that the five teams work together to build a track able to transport a marble (symbolic) from one end of the room to another, passing through each team’s station whilst at the same time focusing on Qatar Steel’s values and how they apply to collaborate in team building. This was a lively team event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants.

The second day started with an overview presented by Dr. Edwin Basson of the World Steel Association on the Mega trends shaping the world and how these trends will impact steel making businesses. An enlightened question and answer session followed with Dr. Edwin sharing his own personal views on where the steel industry will head by 2030. The MD&CEO went on to thank Dr. Edwin Basson for participating and presented him with a souvenir of remembrance.

In the final session of the day, our own home-grown Qatari talent offered two plausible scenarios for 2030, illustrating how Qatar Steel could rise and take advantage of these emerging markets. The day gave the team many insights into the future and it was agreed that much greater work needs to be done on scenario planning and on the 2030 Strategy.
