Qatar Steel hosted 124th meeting of the Board of Directors and the 55th meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Iron and Steel Union (AISU) at the Sharq Village & Spa in Doha on May 22 and 23, 2022. The meetings were held after an almost two-year pause in the AISU’s activities due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic. The General Assembly meeting was held with representatives of 65 iron and steel companies in attendance from various Arab countries. Coinciding with the two meetings, The AISU Economic Committee also resumed its fourth meeting on 22 May. Qatar Steel took part in Waste free Environment campaign in an effort to ‘clean up, recycle and make a difference’ held on March 10, 2022 at the Al Wakra family beach organized by GPCA. Along with MD & CEO – Qatar Steel, other young Qataris participated in the campaign. On the occasion, Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Steel, said: “Qatar Steel is proud to participate in the WFE today and pledge our commitment to integrate and maintain sustainability principles throughout our operations and the community”. Like previous campaigns which achieved a huge success, this year also it attained a far-reaching awareness among the community. In our quest towards more resilient information technology infrastructures, Qatar Steel participated in STAR 2022 (National Cyber Security Drill) to test our co-ordination, expertise and response against the potential cyber-attacks. The theme for this year, “The Enemy Within” is focused on the key roles we play to safeguard Qatar’s cyber space. Cyber drills aims at providing a safe environment to verify, test and improve our skills, processes, and technologies.

Qatar Steel is honored to be a member of the World Steel Association’s (worldsteel) revised and expanded Sustainability Charter. The new Sustainability Charter is organized into 9 principles with 20 associated criteria, which cover environmental, social, governance, and economic aspects of sustainability. Qatar Steel is one among the 39 worldsteel members who have provided evidence that they are aligned with these criteria and are therefore recognized as Charter Member for a 3-year period. Managing Director & CEO Mr. Abdulrahman Ali A Al-Abdulla has graduated with Bachelor Degree in Science and Business Administration (major in Marketing) from University of Denver Colorado, USA. He is currently working as Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Steel Company starting from 1st January, 2021. Mr. Al-Abdulla brings a wealth of experience, cumulated over thirty (30) years of services fully dedicated in Qatar Energy and its affiliated companies. In 2012 he was appointed as Project Director to establish Muntajat where challenging assignment was successfully accomplished and then assigned as CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company Q.J.S.C. (Muntajat). Consistent with his social responsibility and commitment toward the community in Qatar, he is serving as Board member of Qatar Academy (Al-Wakra).
