Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla is appointed in October 2020, by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Chairman and Managing Director of Industries Qatar (IQ) as the new Managing Director & CEO of Qatar Steel starting from Jan 1, 2021. Mr. Al-Abdulla holds a Bachelor degree in Science and Business Administration (major in Marketing) from University of Denver Colorado, USA in 1992. He brings a wealth of experience, cumulated over twenty eight (28) years of services in Qatar Petroleum (QP) and QP affiliates. With his huge expertise in local and international marketing, selling, and distribution of Chemical, Petrochemical and Steel products, he was appointed in multiple capacities by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Chairman and MD of Industries Qatar (IQ). On 6th November 2020 Qatar Steel celebrated the completion of 12 months period without a single Lost Time Injury amongst its workforce, including contractors’ employees. This distinct milestone of having an LTIFR of 0 (ZERO) is achieved first time in Qatar Steel, and only a first step on its journey towards Safety Excellence. The company also recorded a never achieved before landmark of working 10 million man-hours without a Lost Time Injury during the first week of November 2020. These hours were accumulated since last Contractor LTI and Qatar Steel LTI respectively. In a special ceremony, Qatar Steel bid farewell to employees working in the Steel Making Dept. the Supply Chain & Logistics Dept. and the Maintenance & Engineering Dept. The ceremony was attended by MD & CEO and all Chief Officers heading different Departments. Mr. Mohammed Nasser Al Hajri, MD & CEO, thanked all of them individually for the contribution they made while working in Qatar Steel and wished best of luck for their life ahead. An appreciation certificate was handed over to each of the employees by MD & CEO himself. The presence of management and employees created a memorable ambience all around.

Qatar Steel organised a blood donation campaign at the Company’s headquarters in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) in collaboration with the Blood Donor Centre of Hamad Medical Corporation. The humanitarian drive was held as part of enhancing the commitment of Qatar Steel and its employees towards the community. The campaign’s aim is to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation as a humanitarian initiative. In consistent with the concept, Qatar Steel participated in the celebration of National Sport Day to promote the benefits of an active healthy lifestyle among its employees and their families.
