Qatar Steel’s commitment to Qatariztion and Qatari staff qualification stems from a firm conviction of its importance and role in sustainable development. As part of this commitment, Qatar strives to develop the skills of young Qataris joining the Company and provide them with English courses under an agreement with the University of Cambridge through a special program for the new Qatari staff, under training, in Qatar Steel. According to the plan, the young Qatari staff received graduation certificates at the end of the course for having passed the course successfully. During this course, the graduates acquired skills in speaking, writing, reading and listening. Qatar Steel He Mr. Yousef Hussain Kamal, Minister of Economy and Finance, Chairman of Qatar Steel, has appointed Mr. Ali Bin Hassan Al Muraikhi as the Acting General Manager of Qatar Steel with effect from 4 November 2010. Al Muraikhi served as Director and General Manager of Qatar Metals Coating Company (Q-Coat), and Commercial Division Manager of Qatar Steel. Al Muraikhi joined Qatar Steel in 1981. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the USA.


In its endeavor to promote Qatar Steel in the international market and showcasing standards of Excellence, Marketing Department functioning under the proficiency of Commercial Division, in Sept. 2010 made a landmark achievement when they supplied about 60,000MT HBI to JFE Steel Corporation, Japan, adding a feather in the cap of DRI/HBI sales which commenced since Q4’2007. Qatar Steel’s HBI shipment has made the entire Company proud as supplying to the prestigious Japanese market has left impenetrable footprints for others to follow.
