Industries Qatar has appointed Eng. Mohammed Nasser Mubarak A. Al-Hajri as Managing Director of Qatar Steel with effect from 1st May, 2018. Mr. Al- Hajri holds a Master’s degree in Gas Engineering from University of Salford in the United Kingdom and Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering from Qatar University. He joined Qatar Petroleum in 1991 and has more than 26 years of experience in upstream and downstream. Mr. Al- Hajri has previously occupied various positions and responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Downstream Development Directorate of Qatar Petroleum and Vice Chairman of Industries Qatar Co. (IQ). He is currently VC of Qatar Fuel-Woqod (QPSC) and also the Chairman of Ras Girtas Power Co.


Qatar Steel participated in the 12th Qatar University Career Fair organized by QU Career Services Center (CSC) on March 5-8. The event was inaugurated by HE Dr. Issa Bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs. The event aimed at providing high school and university students with the opportunities to meet and interact with the prospective employers to know more on employment opportunities, training and sponsorship opportunities. In the context of Qatar National Vision 2030 to devote continuously in the development of human capital and guiding the younger generation to be aware and explore different career opportunities to take on the world’s challenges, Qatar Steel maintained the tradition of participating in the event. With an objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle among its local population in Qatar, the Sports Day was launched as a national event under the leadership of Shaikh Tamim to be followed every year to emphasize the importance of sports in the life of every individual and following a fit life by indulging into some kind of physical activity. As part of the event, Qatar Steel organized family sports day at the MIC Sports Complex in Mesaieed. Employees from various departments participated along with their families between 8AM to 2PM. The event flow was managed by two professional instructors who arranged contests among the kids/employees and organized fun games with football.
