Industries Qatar has appointed Eng. Mohammed Nasser Mubarak A. Al-Hajri as Managing Director of Qatar Steel with effect from 1st May, 2018. Mr. Al- Hajri holds a Master’s degree in Gas Engineering from University of Salford in the United Kingdom and Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering from Qatar University. He joined Qatar Petroleum in 1991 and has more than 26 years of experience in upstream and downstream. Mr. Al- Hajri has previously occupied various positions and responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Downstream Development Directorate of Qatar Petroleum and Vice Chairman of Industries Qatar Co. (IQ). He is currently VC of Qatar Fuel-Woqod (QPSC) and also the Chairman of Ras Girtas Power Co.

Qatar Steel participated in the 12th Qatar University Career Fair organized by QU Career Services Center (CSC) on March 5-8. The event was inaugurated by HE Dr. Issa Bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs. The event aimed at providing high school and university students with the opportunities to meet and interact with the prospective employers to know more on employment opportunities, training and sponsorship opportunities. In the context of Qatar National Vision 2030 to devote continuously in the development of human capital and guiding the younger generation to be aware and explore different career opportunities to take on the world’s challenges, Qatar Steel maintained the tradition of participating in the event. With an objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle among its local population in Qatar, the Sports Day was launched as a national event under the leadership of Shaikh Tamim to be followed every year to emphasize the importance of sports in the life of every individual and following a fit life by indulging into some kind of physical activity. As part of the event, Qatar Steel organized family sports day at the MIC Sports Complex in Mesaieed. Employees from various departments participated along with their families between 8AM to 2PM. The event flow was managed by two professional instructors who arranged contests among the kids/employees and organized fun games with football. Qatar Steel Company, the first integrated steel plant in Arabian Gulf, hold its 33rd Quality Control Circle in Al Reem Club in Mesaieed.This is an important event on the company’s calendar, and was attended by MD & GM, Division Managers and Department Managers, other than the employees of the company. As a symbol of Qatar Steel’s unwavering commitment and support to the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 objectives, the Qatari steel giant proudly celebrated Qatar National Day in Al Reem Club (Mesaieed). The celebration was attended by MD & GM, top management of Qatar Steel and huge numbered employees working in plant and office. In a tough encounter held at Dukhan Cricket ground, Qatar Steel emerged runners up in the final match played with Al-Khor Community (Ras Gas) in the Oil & Gas Cricket Tournament (2017) on Dec 9, 2017. The final match was observed by large numbered Qatar Steel employees and other public.

In coordination with blood donation center at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Steel organized a blood donation drive at its plant site in Mesaieed on October 15th. Employees from various departments and section took part in this drive. The blood donation drive comes in line with the company’s partnership and cooperation with the local medical organization, and in alliance with its corporate social responsibility and in compliance with its humanitarian role to support the patients who are direly in need for blood and to sustain blood stock. It has been a tradition in Qatar Steel to hold a blood donation drive every year in an effort to promote the blood donation culture among its employees and to emphasize its attention towards the health and welfare of the society to assist a sustainable developed society. Qatar Steel Celebrates HSE Day

In our effort to protect our own employees, the society, and the environment in which they work and live, Qatar Steel celebrated Health, Safety & Environment Day at its site in Mesaieed Industrial Area on Sept 21, 2017 in line with WORLD STEEL Day. The event was focused to enhance awareness on safety in general, heat stress, firefighting techniques and demonstration, and road (traffic) safety, to name a few. The event was attended by Ministry of Interiors, Civil Defense and Red crescent, besides large number of contractors, Qatar Steel employees and top management. In line with Qatar Steel’s commitment to integrate HSE objectives into management systems at all levels and improve HSE management practices continually, the event aimed to spread better understanding on how to prevent HSE risks and keep the environment clean and safe. Due to its strategic importance, Qatar Steel took part in the 14th International Construction Technology & Building Materials Exhibition, “Project Qatar”, held under the auspices of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, from 8th – 11th May, 2014, at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). Project Qatar was opened officially by HE Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Bin Mohamed Al-Thani, Minister of Economy and Trade. An awarding ceremony was held at Al-Reem Club in Mesaieed Industrial City.
