01/26/2010 | Qatar Steel signed a Project Management Contract with INTECO of Austria
Qatar Steel Company, the first integrated steel mill in Arabian Gulf , has signed a Project Management Contract with INTECO of Austria for the upgrading of the existing steel melt shop. In a signing ceremony that took place at Vienna, on 25th January 2010, Qatar Steel’s Director and General Manager Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al-Thani signed the contract together with Mr. Erwin Schneller Deputy Managing Director of INTECO. The delegates of Qatar Steel & INTECO were also present during the function.
In the last 36 years INTECO has done many project management assignments for various steel plants in Russia, China, and Europe.
INTECO has already completed basic engineering and constructability studies for Qatar Steel upgrading assignment.
The project core equipment will be ordered in second quarter of 2010 and commissioning is planned in the fourth quarter of 2011.
